Video Clips from 6/4/08 HOMEConnecticut Press Conference

On June 4th, the HOMEConnecticut Campaign held a press conference to mark the one-year anniversary of the enactment of the Connecticut Housing Program for Economic Growth.  This innovative Program provides municipalities with incentives to create affordable housing in their towns under a system of cooperation and choice.  The press conference also focused on the continued need to build affordable housing in Connecticut, in spite of the recent subprime mortgage crisis.

Watch CPTV's "work. learn. live" Featuring HOMEConnecticut

Watch Episode 11 of CPTV's "work. learn. live." program, which focuses on the relationship between job growth and affordable housing.  The program examines the critical need for workforce housing in Connecticut that will attract and retain young workers to the state.  The episode also looks at how the HOMEConnecticut program can be used to create the kind of affordable housing that Connecticut needs.  Interviewees include:

  • Luis Caban, Executive Director of Southside Institutions Neighborhood Alliance and Vice-Chair of the HOMEConnecticut Steering Committee,
  • Peter Francese, demographer and founder of American Demographics magazine,
  • Pamela Trotman Reid, President, St. Joseph’s College,
  • Kevin Kinsella, Vice President, Hartford Hospital, and and
  • David Fink, Policy Director of the Partnership for Strong Communities.
