53 Towns Apply for HOMEConnecticut Grants

April 30, 2009 -- OPM has reported that, as of 4-20-09, 53 municipalities have applied for Planning and Technical Assistance Grants available through the HOMEConnecticut Program (formally known as the "Housing Program for Economic Growth").   

Of these 53 municipalities, 35 have been approved to receive grants, ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 each.  Those towns are: Beacon Falls, Branford, Bridgeport, Canaan, Canterbury, Colchester, Cornwall, Coventry, Darien, East Hampton, East Hartford, East Lyme, Ellington, Essex, Goshen, Ledyard, New Britain, New London, Newtown, Norfolk, Old Saybrook, Oxford, Plainville, Plymouth, Portland, Salisbury, Sharon, Simsbury, Thomaston, Tolland, Torrington, Wallingford, Westbrook, West Haven and Windham.

Another 18 towns - Barkhamsted, Berlin, Bloomfield, Bolton, Bristol, Clinton, Cromwell, East Windsor, Hamden, Hebron, Middletown, New Canaan, New Haven, Norwalk, Putnam, Redding, Watertown, and Winchester - are currently waiting for grant requests to be processed.

Another 19 towns have expressed interest in participating in this innovative Program.
